About the Job: Behavioral Health Consultant

The Behavioral Health Consultant is responsible for the provision of behavioral therapy and counseling services to individuals served by New Hope as well as training to associates regarding behavioral management techniques. A Behavioral Consultant participates in the development of Individual Support Plans, conducts functional behavior assessments, designs and implements behavior support programs and professionally and accurately maintains documentation and communication. 

What you will do: Behavioral Health Consultant

  • Conducts functional behavior assessments (FBA); designs and implements behavior support programs (BSP), collects and analyzes monthly data; completes progress notes and other documentation as applicable.
  • Provides individual and group counseling as needed.
  • Maintains communication with individual's legal guardian/advocate/family regarding social emotional issues, behavioral plans, medications, and progress, etc.
  • Provides consultation and instruction, including in-service education to NH associates and staff from external agencies regarding treatment approaches and techniques.
  • Precepts new associates on the behavior issues and needs of assigned site(s).
  • Participates in the development of individual support plans and attends quarterly and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate.
  • Responsible for clinical documentation and reports, including psychiatric progress notes, Kronos/billing, and monthly summaries.
  • Presents behavior support plans to the Human Rights Committee as needed or required.
  • Coordinates, attends, and presents progress report at psychiatric rounds with the consultant psychiatrist.
  • Consults with the Level 1 behavior provider on FBA's and BSP's per Medicaid Waiver Standards.
  • Complies with continuing education requirements as prescribed by Medicaid Waiver Program and/or State licensure.
  • Transports individuals to appointments, etc., as needed.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

What Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, School Psychology or another applied health services area of psychology, Special Education, Social Work, or Counseling.

Preferred

  • One year of experience in counseling and/or behavior management working with persons with developmental disabilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Special Training, Licensure, or Credentialing

  • LSW required within one year of hire. LCSW or LMHC preferred. 
  • Must maintain a valid Indiana Driver's License and driving record in accordance with policy guidelines.

Personal Skills and Aptitudes

  • Must be willing to use personal vehicle.
  • The ability and willingness to work flexible hours is required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
