New Hope of Indiana is hiring a full time Community Living Manager for our Group Home Program who will oversee the overall operation of multiple assigned sites and to ensure individuals are living their best life.

About the Job – Community Living Manager

You will oversee budgeting, licensure and regulatory compliance and quality assurance. You will implement person-centered planning and emphasize community inclusion and personal growth. You will be responsible for staff development and will act as a liaison with community agencies and neighborhoods.

  • Provides supervision, coaching, and support to assigned Team Leaders.
  • Provides ongoing feedback and meets regularly with associates to communicate information, discuss performance goals and problem solve issues.
  • Addresses performance issues in a timely, respectful manner.
  • Interviews, selects and is responsible for the on-going development and evaluation of associates within their area of responsibility.
  • Works with Team Leaders to ensure that precepting and orientation of new associates is completed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with the Learning and Development Specialist in the provision of in-service training and team building for associates.
  • Oversees, and monitors assigned budgets and financial operations.
  • Promotes person-centered philosophy and planning with individuals served. Fosters social inclusion, choices, and enhanced life experiences.
  • Ensures the design and implementation of support and programs for individuals served to live their best life and maintain or increase independence.
  • Oversees compliance with New Hope and specific program policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates billing and other accounting processes such as revenue from individuals served and payment of expenses.
  • Provides quality assurance through audits, data collection, surveys, and observations.
  • Utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to address identified problem areas and to further enhance supports and services.
  • Participates in planning activities, program development and committees.
  • Ensures plans of care meet the needs of the individuals and the organization.
  • Coordinates the investigation of suspected abuse, individual rights, family, associate, and neighborhood issues, etc.
  • Provides coverage at sites as needed during staff illness, vacations, shortages, etc.
  • Participates in compensated on-call rotation.
  • Participates in professional and community activities to increase public awareness of options and opportunities in the community for persons with developmental disabilities.

  • Business Acumen: Possess a general understanding of business environments, work processes, and technical skills needed to perform well in business roles. This competency focuses on the expectation to continually refine and improve required skills or ways of working by seeking out internal and external learning opportunities.
  • Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Knowledge: Possess in-depth knowledge of chronic disabilities that can affect cognitive, physical, or both abilities. Conscious of verbal and nonverbal preferences and indicators used by others and adapt accordingly. Believe that people with disabilities have a right to individual boundaries and decisions.

  • People Leadership/Development: Work with staff in ways that improve their ability to succeed on the job. This includes displaying an ongoing commitment to staff learning and improvement and encouraging and supporting staff to acquire new knowledge or work skills.
What Qualifications do I need to be a Community Living Manager?
  • Must have an Bachelor's Degree in human services or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Must meet federal and state requirements for designation as a "Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional" (QIDP).

Special Training, Licensure or Credentialing
  • Must meet New Hope driving record guidelines and have proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Must possess a valid Indiana Operator’s License and be willing to use personal vehicle as needed.
  • QIDP designation

Personal Skills and Aptitudes

  • Must possess exceptional communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • Effective critical thinking, decision making, problem solving, financial and information management abilities are required as well.
  • Intermediate proficiency in using Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel.
  • The ability to carry out quality improvement processes is also necessary.
  • The associate must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills related to communication, comfort, safety, growth, and development needs of individuals served; and provide direct support and care as needed.

Work Schedule

  • Primarily day hours, however, must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights and weekends as needed to accommodate the needs of individuals and staff.
  • On-call rotation required.

Supervises

  • Directly supervises Team Leaders.
  • May indirectly supervise other associates including, but not limited to, Direct Support staff.
